Are Chip Bakehouse Cookies Nut-Free or Gluten-Free? Our Allergen Guide

It's the question we get asked most before someone places an order, especially for a group: can everyone actually eat these? The honest, short answer is that Chip's kitchen handles wheat, dairy, egg, soy, peanuts and tree nuts across the board, and no flavour is currently formulated as gluten-free, dairy-free or nut-free. That's not a hedge — it's the real situation, and it's worth understanding exactly what it means before you order for someone with a food allergy.

Are Chip Bakehouse cookies nut-free?

No, and not because every flavour has nuts in the ingredient list. Several flavours genuinely do — hazelnuts in our Bueno cookies, macadamia in Thai Milk Tea, pistachio in Dubai Chocolate — but the wider issue is that our kitchen handles peanuts and tree nuts as part of everyday production, so even a flavour with no nut ingredients carries a 'may contain' warning from shared equipment and shared bench space. There is no separate nut-free production line or kitchen. If someone has a severe nut allergy, treat every Chip cookie as a risk, not just the ones with nuts baked in.

Are Chip Bakehouse cookies gluten-free or dairy-free?

No. Plain flour and butter are foundation ingredients in every dough we make, and most fillings and chocolate use milk solids as well, so wheat (gluten) and dairy run through essentially the entire menu. Egg and soy are also close to universal, either in the dough itself or in the chocolate used throughout. We do not currently offer a gluten-free or dairy-free flavour, and none of our doughs are formulated as an alternative-flour or alternative-dairy base.

One kitchen, one set of equipment, every flavour — which is exactly why the allergen picture is the same across the board.

What allergens does Chip Bakehouse's kitchen handle?

Our kitchen handles gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, peanuts and tree nuts. We take real care to minimise cross-contamination between batches, but because everything is baked in one shared space with shared equipment, we cannot guarantee that any product is strictly free from trace allergens — even a flavour that reads as simple on the ingredient list. Customers with severe allergies should not consume our products.

📝 Note:Every flavour has its own specific allergen line — some contain tree nuts outright, others only carry the standard "may contain" cross-contamination warning. Always check the individual flavour before ordering for someone with a food allergy, rather than assuming from the flavour name alone.

How can I check the allergens for a specific Chip cookie flavour?

Every flavour lists its exact allergens and full ingredient list on its own product page, and our Nutrition & Allergens page has a searchable, filterable table covering the whole current lineup side by side — nutrition facts on one tab, allergens on the other. That's the place to check before ordering for a group, a school event, or anyone with a known allergy, since it reflects exactly what's live in the current episode rather than a general statement about the brand.

Does Chip Bakehouse offer vegan or halal-certified cookies?

Not currently. Every flavour in our lineup uses dairy and egg, and we do not hold halal certification at this time. If that changes, it will show up as a dedicated product on the menu rather than a substitution on an existing flavour — we won't make an unconfirmed claim about a diet or certification a cookie doesn't actually meet.

What should I do if I have a severe allergy?

Given the shared-kitchen cross-contamination risk, our honest advice is not to consume our products if you have a severe allergy to any of wheat, dairy, egg, soy, peanuts or tree nuts. For anything not covered here, our FAQ page has more detail, or you can get in touch directly before ordering for yourself or a group.

Frequently asked questions

Are Chip Bakehouse cookies nut-free?

No. Several flavours contain tree nuts directly (hazelnut, macadamia, pistachio, among others), and the kitchen handles peanuts and tree nuts across all production, so every flavour carries at least a 'may contain' cross-contamination warning. There is no dedicated nut-free line.

Are any Chip Bakehouse cookies gluten-free or dairy-free?

No, not currently. Plain flour and butter are used across the entire dough lineup, so wheat and dairy run through virtually every flavour. We do not offer a gluten-free or dairy-free option at this time.

What allergens does Chip Bakehouse's kitchen handle?

The kitchen handles gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, peanuts and tree nuts. Cross-contamination is minimised but not eliminated, since everything is baked in one shared space — no product can be guaranteed strictly free of trace allergens.

How do I find the allergens for a specific cookie flavour?

Each flavour's product page lists its exact allergens and ingredients, and the Nutrition & Allergens page has a full searchable table covering the current lineup, split into nutrition and allergen tabs.

Does Chip Bakehouse offer vegan or halal-certified cookies?

Not currently. All flavours contain dairy and egg, and Chip does not currently hold halal certification. Any future change would appear as a dedicated menu item rather than an adjustment to an existing flavour.

Can I order Chip cookies for someone with a severe allergy?

We would advise against it. Because production happens in one shared kitchen with shared equipment, we cannot guarantee any product is free from trace allergens, and recommend anyone with a severe allergy to wheat, dairy, egg, soy, peanuts or tree nuts avoid our products.
