The Nutella Cookie: One of Chip's Original Seven Flavours

Some flavours don't need an introduction. Nutella® — the chocolate-hazelnut spread that has been a pantry staple across the world for decades — was one of the seven cookies we launched Chip Bakehouse with back in Episode 1, The Beginning. It has since moved in and out of rotation as our lineup has grown, but it remains one of the flavours people ask about most.

What is a Nutella cookie?

A Nutella cookie is a soft cookie dough swirled with rich Nutella®, built to put the chocolate-hazelnut spread front and centre rather than treating it as a background note. At Chip Bakehouse, ours pairs a plain cookie dough with milk chocolate and real Nutella® running through it — a straightforward, deliberately unfussy showcase for a flavour that does not need much help. It contains hazelnuts.

Why does Nutella work so well in a stuffed cookie?

Because Nutella® is already built for this. It is smooth, glossy, and formulated to stay soft rather than set hard, which makes it one of the easiest spreads to fold through a dough or stuff into a centre without fighting the bake. The flavour itself is deep and chocolate-forward with hazelnut running underneath — darker and more intense than a Kinder Bueno-style spread, which leans lighter and creamier by comparison. A thick, underbaked cookie format gives that darker, richer profile room to stay gooey rather than firming up into something closer to a spread cookie you would find pre-packaged on a shelf.

Nutella cookie vs Bueno cookie vs Dubai chocolate — what is the difference?

All three are chocolate-and-nut flavours, but each sits in a different lane. A Kinder Bueno cookie is light and creamy, built on white-chocolate hazelnut spread with a wafer crunch — the sweet, nostalgic end of the spectrum. Nutella is darker and more intense, built around the deep, chocolate-heavy hazelnut spread you would spread on toast. Dubai chocolate is a different nut altogether — pistachio, not hazelnut — paired with toasted kataifi for a crunch neither of the other two has. If you are choosing between them, Nutella is the one to reach for when you want hazelnut flavour that reads as genuinely chocolatey rather than sweet or crunchy.

📝 Note:The Nutella cookie contains hazelnuts (a tree nut). Its full allergen profile is wheat, milk, egg, soy and tree nuts (hazelnuts). Always check the full allergen list on the product page before ordering for a group.

Where does the Nutella cookie sit in Chip's lineup today?

Nutella has entered the Chip Archive and is currently exclusive to catering and events orders rather than part of a regular monthly drop. That is normal for us — with a new six-flavour episode every month, older flavours rotate out to make room, and fan favourites like Nutella do come back around periodically rather than disappearing for good. If you want it for an event or a catering order, it is available; if you want to see what is live right now, build a box from the current episode.

Is the Nutella cookie available to order right now?

Not as a standalone online order at the moment — it currently sits in the Chip Archive, available through catering and events enquiries rather than the regular flavour drop. Follow us on Instagram or check the current episode to see when it next rotates back into the lineup, or build a box from what is available today.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Nutella cookie?

A Nutella cookie is a cookie built around Nutella®, the chocolate-hazelnut spread. Chip Bakehouse's version is a milk chocolate dough swirled with real Nutella®, and it was one of the seven flavours the bakery launched with in its first episode. It contains hazelnuts.

Is the Nutella cookie currently available to order?

Not as a standalone online drop right now — it has entered the Chip Archive and is currently exclusive to catering and events orders. Chip runs a new six-flavour episode every month, so archived flavours like Nutella do rotate back periodically. Check the current episode page or follow @chip.bakehouse on Instagram for when it returns.

What is the difference between a Nutella cookie and a Kinder Bueno cookie?

A Nutella cookie is darker and more chocolate-intense, built around the classic chocolate-hazelnut spread. A Kinder Bueno cookie is lighter and creamier, using white-chocolate hazelnut spread and a milk-chocolate dough with a wafer crunch. Nutella is the rich, grown-up version; Bueno is the sweet, nostalgic one.

Does the Nutella cookie contain nuts?

Yes. The Nutella cookie contains hazelnuts (a tree nut). Its full allergen profile is wheat, milk, egg, soy and tree nuts (hazelnuts). Check the product page for the complete ingredient and allergen list before ordering, especially for a group.

Was Nutella one of the original Chip Bakehouse flavours?

Yes. Nutella was one of the seven flavours in Episode 1, The Beginning — the drop that launched Chip Bakehouse. It has moved in and out of the regular rotation since, alongside flavours like Ube Cheesecake and Vietnamese Coffee from that same original lineup.

Can I order a Nutella cookie for an event or catering order?

Yes. While Nutella is not part of the current online flavour drop, it remains available through Chip's catering and events orders. Get in touch through the events enquiry page to arrange it for a function or bulk order.

How is a Nutella cookie different from a Dubai chocolate cookie?

They use different nuts entirely — Nutella is hazelnut-based, while Dubai chocolate is built on pistachio cream and toasted kataifi. Nutella reads as deep and classically chocolatey; Dubai chocolate is about the crunch-and-cream contrast of pistachio and pastry. They are not close substitutes for each other.
